Ger's thoughts on convincing win

It’s been coming. Yesterday’s result might surprise a few, however we’ve been watching similar performances for the last few weeks without being able to lay that proverbial glove on our opponents.

Knowing that Lochgelly were minutes away from beating top of the table Whitburn last weekend, the boys were well briefed beforehand that we had to start the game quickly. Robbie, Macca and Joycey to their credit wasted no time in getting us on the front foot. Grant Doyle was also back in the starting XI and his performance was right up there in contention for the man of the match award too. Only to be piped by Kyle Kivlichan who I feel has taken his individual game to another level these past few weeks. And after checking the highlights he’s probably just about earned the contentious brush off the heel from Joyce’s initial strike for his hat-trick. We also can’t forget that Cammy pulled off an important penalty stop at 2-0 as well which then allows the momentum to stay in our favour.

However, I have felt that a result like this might come our way at some point. We put ourselves in great positions week in week out in the final third, so full credit to our forward players for putting on the display they did yesterday.

Next weekend sees us travel down the borders to Home Park to face Coldstream, who are a division above us, in the last 16 of the League Cup. Kieran has done a fantastic job at the Streamers in what is no doubt another really tough division. Having already put out Stirling University, we know we are in for a tough trip but it’s certainly one myself and the boys are looking forward to!

Finally and most importantly a massive thanks is sent from all the boys for the continued support. Especially over the last few days on our social media pages for all our ongoing off the park stuff as well. We might not always get it right on the park, but the boys more than deserve the plaudits for doing this wee town proud. Yesterday is just another reminder of this.

One thing’s for sure it’s certainly been a kinder weekend this time around.
