Paul's thoughts on an encouraging away performance

Yesterday was very much a game of two halves. Obviously it was going to be a tough game against Armadale Thistle, a team almost certain to achieve back to back promotions come the end of the season. But the effort from the boys yesterday was absolutely brilliant and I’m pretty sure from the first minute to the last Armadale knew they were in a really tough game.

First half especially I felt we controlled the football really well and some of the play was a joy to watch. Our goal comes from pressure and a great pass from Ross lamb to free up Macca (Luke MacLean) who slots the ball home with a great finish. The wee man has been on fire lately and has his confidence back in front of goal which is brilliant for us and even more for him as we can see him being more clinical.

Unfortunately, the half time whistle came at the wrong time for us.

Fair play to Armadale though, they came out changed shape and caused us problems and we just didn’t get going for the first 15 minutes. Then then we lose momentum with Benzo (Ben Brown) going off with an injury and that forces us into changing our whole system. But the boys dug in and played their part more than well. The only disappointing aspect is you can’t switch off against good teams and give them free chances like we did yesterday or they will punish you.

The boys just need to keep the first half levels up for 90 minutes and it shows you when they believe in themselves they’re more than a match for anyone in this league; we just have to be that little bit more consistent.

Massive positives for the boys though and we will continue to work hard and the rewards will come,  I’m sure of it. Every player gave 100% and played for each other and the club and to me that’s what we need to be a good, competitive team.
