It seems to have been the story of our season so far but yesterday was again a result that came down to fine margins which ultimately saw us exit our cup tie. Armadale showed what a ruthless side they can be when given even half chances and that was the difference between the sides yesterday.
First half, we arguably had the better chances and with our set up we were able to frustrate them through that first 45 minutes. A great finish from Gregor Lamb as he rounds a couple defenders in his path and we are possibly unlucky not to be two or three up at the break.
Half time probably came at the wrong time for us and Armadale came out flying at the start of the second half as expected. A cheap goal conceded inside the first minute gave them confidence and they then get a second fairly quickly.
We settled ourselves again from there though and manage to get ourselves back into it with a cool finish from Kyle Kivlichan from the penalty spot. At this point both teams were throwing everything at each other, Scott Latto gets a brilliant header chalked off only for Armadale to come up the other end and get a goal with ten minutes to go. In trying to get the equaliser we lose a 4th into injury time which puts a fairly harsh final scoreline on it from our perspective.
There were plenty positives for us to take from the game though, showing we can compete with the top of the table and we just need to iron out a few individual errors and I’m confident we will be in a good place.
We wish the best of luck to Armadale in the next round and a speedy recovery to the lad that was stretchered off during the first half.
