We got a top performance all across the pitch today, three points and a clean sheet on the road is exactly what the team needed after the efforts of last weekend and, in fairness, over this season as a whole so far. At times we’ve felt we maybe haven’t got what we’ve deserved from some of the early season matches so today was a very welcome change in fortune
In the first half, and particularly in the first half hour, we played some brilliant football and were moving the ball well from side to side creating lots of chances. A couple unbelievable saves from the Coldstream ‘keeper, their man of the match, kept the score level at half time and credit to them, their counter attack did threaten our back line multiple times in the first half as well.
Second half, the home team did come out flying and we had to ride the storm for a while. A couple of great saves from Jordan (Moffat) and some goal line clearances frustrated their attacking players.
Finally, the hard work paid off with Benzo (Ben Brown) breaking the deadlock with a close range finish. I think he was as shocked as we were judging by his celebration! The second goal was coming as Coldstream tried to throw men forward for the equaliser; Ross Lamb firing a brilliant ball in behind the back line and a bit of confusion from the ‘keeper and defender allowed Harry McGill to take advantage.
Today’s result should give us plenty confidence but we will focus on just one game at a time and we now move on to another tough away fixture at Tweedmouth Rangers on Wednesday.
